There is something empowering about traveling solo—waking up on your own time, moving through the day however you want, and completely immersing yourself in the moment. My solo trip to Hyatt Zilara Montego Bay was just that: peaceful, freeing, and filled with the best moments.
Waking Up to Paradise
Each morning, I started with a delicious breakfast—fresh fruit, warm pastries, and the kind of ocean breeze that makes you want to stay just a little longer. One of my favorite places for breakfast was Urban Heatz, located on the adults-only side. It was peaceful, quiet, and perfect for slow solo mornings. I also tried Choicez, but honestly, it was just okay for me. The calm, cozy vibe at Urban Heatz made it my go-to spot for the rest of the trip.

After breakfast every day, I made my way to the beach, where I spent the early hours soaking up the sun, listening to audiobooks, and enjoying sitting still.

Delicious Bites & Memorable Nights
On my first night, I had dinner at Calypzo, which serves Caribbean cuisine. I ordered the seafood pasta, and let me tell you—it was so good! The flavors were rich and fresh, and it was the perfect way to kick off my stay.
On my last night, I dined at De Rosa, the resort’s Italian restaurant located on the family side. Everything I tried there was delicious—from the appetizers to (yes, again) the seafood pasta. I have a thing for seafood pasta! The only downside was that the atmosphere was much louder compared to the adult side, since it’s on the family-friendly side of the resort. Still, the food made up for it.
The Clear Kayak Experience
One of the highlights of my trip was the clear kayak photo shoot at One Man Beach. Floating above the vibrant Caribbean Sea in a transparent kayak was such a surreal experience, and the photos turned out beautifully. It was the perfect solo travel activity—calm, creative, and totally Instagram-worthy!

Solo… But Never Alone
Even though I traveled solo, I never felt alone or unsafe. The staff at Hyatt Zilara were warm and attentive, friendly, and the atmosphere made it easy to unwind and feel secure at all times. Everyone spoke, which was so nice. It didn’t matter if I was lounging by the pool, walking the grounds, or grabbing a drink at the bar; I felt totally at ease.
Family Vibes on the Other Side
While Hyatt Zilara is adults-only, it’s connected to its sister property Hyatt Ziva, which caters to families. If you’re traveling with kids or in a group, this setup is ideal because you get the best of both worlds. I noticed how well the resort handled large groups and families, but for solo travel, I would recommend an adults-only resort with no family side at all. I say that because the restaurants could get pretty loud with kids, and if I don’t have my kids with me, I would prefer not to be around them. (Being honest lol)
Final Thoughts
My solo stay at Hyatt Zilara Montego Bay was everything I needed: a chance to disconnect, breathe, and enjoy life at my own pace. From relaxing beach mornings to flavorful Caribbean and Italian cuisine, every moment felt like a gift. The resort is kept clean to the point where the pool is closed every morning for cleanings. The rooms’ views are not the best, but if you’re considering a nice family getaway, this resort is worth putting at the top of your list. Peaceful mornings, gorgeous beaches, and Caribbean hospitality—it doesn’t get much better than that.
